New Year Resolutions for Runners

Happy New Year

It's time to welcome in a new year. And, for runners, that means making plans for the year ahead. So, how should we look forward to running in 2024? Here are a few suggestions:

1. Achieve a new PB
We all want at least one personal best time in the coming year. Find the best opportunity for achieving a new best time and train towards it. Our experience is that a race with a flat course that you enjoy is typically the best option.

2. Develop a consistent training plan
Some of us can be a bit haphazzard with training. This will rarely yield best results. Having a well thought out plan will produce better results as well as long-lasting health benefits.

3. Have a bucket list of events.
Whether it's your next ultra marathon, very first 5K, or something a bit more random, its a lot more fun and inspiring if the race has some importance to you.

4. Run a new type of race
It's easy to get in a rut, and bored, running the same type of races. Mix it up by running a new distance, on a different terrain or at a different level.

5. Join a running group
It is often more fun to run with other runners. As well as the social aspect, it will make most of us faster, better runners.

6. Get involved in organising events
Running events need to be organised. If you fancy getting into race organisation, there are plenty of oportunities to join events teams. Most races are forever looking for volunteers, and sometimes employ the talents of experienced runners. Alternatively, if you see a gap in the market, we are all happy to check out a new race in the coming year.

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you have a great 2024 and achieve all your ambitions.
